About
The Campaign Planning team coordinates planning for the university's comprehensive multi-billion dollar fundraising Light the Waycampaign, including work with campus leadership, unit deans and fundraising teams, external campaign consultants and campaign volunteers from across campus.
The Board of Visitors (BoV) is an external strategic advisory group supporting the Chancellor and other campus leaders. Board meetings are held three to four times per year. Committee meetings, held throughout the year, focus on governance, finance and administration, academic affairs, capital strategies, external affairs and research.
What We Do
The campaign team is responsible for effectively planning and executing campaign strategies and priorities, working closely with campus partners for successful implementation and strategy on a variety of projects. The team supports the work of the Campaign Co-Chairs, National Campaign Steering Committee, and Gateway Subcommittee, all chaired by Chancellor Carol Christ, ensuring that the Co-Chairs and committee members have regular opportunities to provide advice and feedback on the campaign and its priorities, are empowered to leverage their networks to attract philanthropy to UC Berkeley and serve as spokespersons and event hosts in order to bring the campaign to life with alumni, donors and friends and tell the story of the philanthropic impact of the Light the Way campaign.
The Board of Visitors (BoV) team is responsible for planning and executing meetings and providing the Chancellor with consistent and insightful access to board members. BoV members advise and support the Chancellor, executive vice chancellor and provost, and campus leadership. The team enables the board to engage and:
- Consider the opportunities and risks facing the university
- Advise the campus on long-term strategy
- Help shape and advance key initiatives
- Review and consult on UC Berkeley’s annual operating and capital budgets and plans
- Review significant capital projects
