Sylvia Bierhuis (she/her/hers) is the Executive Director of the Foundation Relations and Corporate Philanthropy (FRCP) team in the University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) department at the University of California, Berkeley.
FRCP works to facilitate meaningful partnerships between UC Berkeley and philanthropic organizations to achieve mutual goals that advance the university’s research and teaching mission and our overarching goal to create positive social impact. This expert team blends philanthropic and campus knowledge to foster strategies that enable institutional donors to support research, teaching, programs, students, and more across the university.
In her role, Sylvia is responsible for close collaboration with her colleagues, developing and executing the FRCP team’s strategic goals, and engaging with external and internal partners. She also manages a portfolio of high-level foundation donors and serves as the liaison to several units on campus and within UDAR. Sylvia has been with UC Berkeley since 2005 in a range of capacities, with a focus on corporate and foundation philanthropy since 2008.
